A celebration member in a D&D 5e sport I am in is taking part in a halfling paladin. It occurred to me (for no matter cause) to ask what weapon they have been wielding, and so they stated their important weapon was a maul, and their backup was a warhammer/protect combo).
Upon checking the Weapons desk, I found that mauls have the “Heavy” weapon property:
Heavy. Small creatures have drawback on assault rolls with heavy weapons. A heavy weapon’s dimension and bulk make it too giant for a Small creature to make use of successfully.
The participant appeared to be unaware of this (an identical character in Crucial Function apparently wielded heavy weapons with out subject – after all, CR isn’t essentially an ideal demonstration of the principles as written).
As such, I used to be curious whether or not there’s something within the guidelines (i.e. not homebrew or a home rule) that cancels out this innate drawback for participant characters, apart from gaining benefit from another supply in fight.
(Word: the difficulty has already been resolved in our sport between the participant and DM, so it is purely a guidelines query.)
