The third good thing about the Sentinel feat says (PHB, p. 169-170; emphasis mine):
- When a creature inside 5 ft of you makes an assault towards a goal apart from you (and that focus on would not have this feat), you should utilize your response to make a melee weapon assault towards the attacking creature.
Do shoves and grapples meet the requirement of a creature “making an assault” (since they’re described within the guidelines as “particular melee assaults”)?
If that’s the case, does the shove or grapple try have to be profitable with the intention to set off the response assault from the Sentinel feat?
I believe that the reply to the primary a part of my query is sure, given this related query in regards to the third good thing about the Cellular feat, however I am much less positive in regards to the second a part of my query.
(I do know that the response assault from Sentinel would solely happen after the triggering assault by the enemy is resolved.)
